Write a practice note you can use

Leave your next practice session a clear place to begin.

After rehearsal, write one useful note before packing up. Include the song, section, and what you noticed. “Final chorus entrance: kick late after tom fill” gives you a passage to revisit; “bad timing today” does not.

If there is a recording, add a timestamp so you can check your memory. Keep the observation separate from its possible cause: a late entrance is something you heard, while “wrong sticking” is a hypothesis to test.

At the next practice, play the approach, the troublesome passage, and the return with a metronome. Try one adjustment and record another pass. Update the note with what helped, or with what still needs checking. You can keep a longer practice plan elsewhere; this short note only needs to get you back to the right passage.
