One crash as an arrangement experiment

Choose the moment first, then decide how to play the accent.

Try limiting a song to one crash during rehearsal as a way to hear what it contributes. Choose an entrance or band accent that seems important and leave the other crashes out for that pass.

If you choose the last chorus downbeat, practice arriving on beat 1 with the crash and whatever kick note belongs there. When the notes are intended together, listen for a single attack. Continue the groove afterward instead of letting the accent interrupt the pulse.

Compare that version with the original arrangement. The single crash might make the chosen entrance clearer, or the song might need several accents you removed. Discuss those moments with the band and restore the accents that help the passage. Mark the chosen placement so you can play it consistently.
