How far did the tempo move?

Check a longer stretch of the recording before treating one early hit as a tempo change.

One early snare hit does not tell you that the whole band changed tempo. Listen to several bars of the rehearsal recording and tap along to the pulse. Compare the verse and chorus, using the same method for both.

For a song intended to stay at 80 BPM, a steady chorus near 86 would be a meaningful change to discuss. Those numbers are an example, not recommended song tempos. Check whether the band intended the shift and whether everyone moved together.

If the change was unplanned, rehearse the transition at the agreed tempo. Start with the last verse bar, include the chorus entrance, and continue for several bars. Listen for where the movement begins. Tap-tempo readings are approximate, especially over a short sample; use them to guide listening rather than to label every small variation a mistake.
